December 16, 2024

Last weekend, Taylor Nelson Amitrano LLP Associate, Michael Romero, presented at the American Bar Association's 2024 Criminal Tax Fraud and Tax Controversy Conference in Las Vegas. During his panel discussion, Michael spoke on the topic, “How the Legal Community Can Focus on Diversity Within Firms and In Service to Our Clients.”

Michael was one of several experienced attorneys who spoke on strategies for representing diverse clients during administrative proceedings and before the U.S. Tax Court.

Questions to panelists included those on the importance of focusing on diversity and inclusion within law firms and the profession, in order to better assist clients in navigating challenges regarding tax issues. In addition, they addressed how to be more aware of diversity challenges, including language or physical barriers, and what resources the IRS and Tax Court have to help lawyers navigate these obstacles.

This annual gathering of the tax bar brings together high-level government officials, judges, corporate counsel, and private practitioners engaged in all aspects of tax controversy, tax litigation, and criminal tax prosecutions and defense.
